Job description

Find Your Shangri-La in Shangri-La.

Our story began in 1971, when the first Shangri-La opened its doors. We have since been crafting joyful experiences through heartfelt hospitality, and that legacy continues to guide us today. As we look ahead to new horizons, we invite you to join the world of Shangri-La — shaping the next chapter and making a meaningful impact through shared purpose and the art and joy of Asian hosting.

Shangri-La Hambantota is a luxury beachfront resort located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and lush tropical landscapes. The resort offers world-class accommodation, exceptional dining experiences, and extensive leisure facilities including a Golf Course, signature spa, multiple swimming pools, and spacious conference and event venues. The resort comprises 274 beautifully designed rooms and suites, offering guests a unique blend of relaxation and adventure.

At Shangri-La, hospitality from the heart defines who we are. We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Financial Controller to lead and oversee the resort’s Finance Division, ensuring strong financial governance, operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic business support across all areas of the resort.

In The Role, We Rely On You To

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the annual Learning & Development strategy and training calendar.
  • Identify learning needs through training needs analysis and collaborate with department heads to develop effective learning solutions.
  • Facilitate orientation programmes, core brand training, leadership development programmes, and mandatory compliance training.
  • Drive service culture initiatives and reinforce Shangri-La’s values and service standards across all departments.
  • Monitor and report on learning effectiveness using key performance indicators and training evaluation methods.
  • Support succession planning, talent development, career progression, and colleague engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate corporate learning programmes, e-learning platforms, and regional Learning & Development projects.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and statutory training requirements.
  • Coach department trainers and leaders to enhance their training and coaching capabilities.
  • Manage the Learning & Development budget and training resources effectively.
  • Build strong partnerships with department heads to promote continuous learning and performance improvement.
  • Represent the Learning & Development function during internal and external audits and ensure compliance with all training-related requirements.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Learning & Development team while promoting a culture of learning and excellence throughout the resort.

We Are Looking for Someone Who
